JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 26, 2025 — Clint Pressley, president of the Southern Baptist Convention and senior pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, will preach in chapel at Union University Aug. 27.
A Charlotte native, Pressley joined Hickory Grove as a teenager before earning a Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He joined Hickory Grove in 1999 as senior associate pastor of preaching before going to Dauphin Way Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama, as senior pastor. Pressley returned to Hickory Grove in 2010 as co-pastor and was installed as senior pastor in 2011.
He was elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention in 2024 and re-elected in June.
He and his wife Connie have two sons.
The chapel service begins at 10 a.m. in G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. It is free and open to the public. The service will also be livestreamed at vimeo.com/unionuniversity.
