Airport Transportation
Union University has students from over 40 states and 25 countries! Because of the distance between our campus and their home, several students must travel by plane to get here. The Office of Residence Life has created the "Union Ride Board" group located on Facebook to facilitate car-pooling and ride-sharing at the beginning and end of semesters and during breaks. If a student cannot find a ride, the Office of Residence Life can attempt to find other students/staff willing to drive to the Memphis airport for a cost of $75.00 per ride. (If more than one person needs a ride, they can split that cost.) Requests for rides must be made at least one week in advance and are only available when the residence halls are open.
McKellar-Sipes (Jackson) Regional airport, (an easy 10 minute drive from the UU campus), offers flights from Jackson to Atlanta. To check out current rates or to schedule a flight, go to iflysouthern.com. The University does not provide transportation to the McKellar-Sipes or Nashville airports.
Arrival/Departure Forms
In Residence Life we understand that many students need housing arrangements during University breaks when the Residence Complexes are closed during the Fall or Spring semesters (Thanksgiving break, Spring break, etc.). In order to stay during these breaks, all students are required to complete the electronic form emailed to you before the complex closes. We also require that any students staying on campus for additional nights continue to follow the community guidelines outlined by the Residence Life staff and as stated in the Campus Life Handbook. If you need to stay on campus after the Fall or Spring semester has finished, you will need to receive permission from the Office of Residence Life and pay a $50 late check-out fee plus $20 per night that you stay on campus after the residence complexes close.
In addition, we are not able to accommodate students wishing to move on campus prior to the scheduled fall and spring move-in days (listed on the Academic Calendar). If you have extenuating circumstances that requires you moving on campus early, you will need to receive permission from the Office of Residence Life and pay a $50 early move-in fee plus $20 per night that you stay on campus before the scheduled move-in day. If you are staying for official University business anytime the Residence Complexes are closed, you must have your faculty or staff advisor fill out an early arrival form for the whole organization and submit it to the Office of Residence Life. For requests and more information about early arrivals, please email the Office of Residence Life at reslife@uu.edu.
