Preceptors
On behalf of the Dean, faculty, staff, and students of the Union University College of Pharmacy, welcome to our family of clinical preceptors! We greatly appreciate your willingness to invest in the professional growth and development of each student pharmacist.
Over 25% of a pharmacy student's education takes place in the practice setting under the supervision of a clinical preceptor.
The goal of the Office of Experiential Education is to provide interdisciplinary educational opportunities in a broad range of pharmacy practice settings in support of our mission to develop compassionate, comprehensively trained practitioners who are equipped to meet the immediate and future demands of pharmaceutical science and patient care in an ever changing health care environment.
It is through the experiential education program that our students come face-to-face with patients, providers, and problems that require them to put their classroom knowledge into practice.
As a clinical preceptor, you have an opportunity to shape the future of pharmacy.
Teaching and mentoring students in a practice environment cannot be matched in the classroom or laboratory. Not only do you guide future pharmacists in the pursuit of knowledge, but also in the building of skills, attitudes, and values necessary to practice in a challenging environment.
It is our hope that you will find great reward in teaching and mentoring students of the Union University College of Pharmacy. Through your commitment to higher education, we are confident that the education provided to our students will continue to be excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused, and future-directed.
