Scheduling and Writing Activites for the CTE Classroom

Kenneth Newman, Ed.D., Professor of Educational Leadership, Jackson

August 1, 2009 - Dr. Kenneth Newman was invited to present at the Hardeman County CTE In-Service in July, 2009. Hardeman County Schools began Block Scheduling (90 minute classes) in the 2009-2010 school year. As part of the preparation for this change, he was asked to do a follow-up in-service session for the Career Technical Educators (CTE) to get them ready for the upcoming school year.He had earlier conducted sessions on Differentiated Instruction and Writing. At this particular session, they talked about various activities the teachers could use in the block, as well as some writing activities they could use in their classes. Hands-on activities were used in order for the CTE faculty to experience what their students could do.
