Dr. Tom Rosebrough and Dr. Ann Singleton presented at the 2010 Academic Chairpersons’ Conference on February 11-12, 2010 in Orlando, Florida. The theme of the conference was A New Generation of Accountability. The conference was sponsored by Kansas State University. Drs. Rosebrough and Singleton’s presentation, “Moving Beyond the Myths of Teaching in Higher Education,” focused on the mythology of teaching in higher education, that is, the conventional wisdom of intuitive theories and practices related to teaching and learning. Discussion involved clarifying faculty rationales for perpetuating pedagogical myths and moving toward administrative solutions through faculty development.
