Education Students Accepted into Vanderbilt Graduate Program
March 1, 2010 - Lyndsie Beanblossom and Cheryl Propst have been accepted into the Master in Education of the Deaf (MDE) program at Vanderbilt University. They have been granted a full tuition waiver. This program prepares teachers for oral deaf education classrooms. The primary emphasis of oral deaf education is the development of auditory skills and spoken language in children who are deaf and hard of hearing.
The Vanderbilt program has a distinguished position among a highly selective group of schools focusing on the use of hearing and speech to communicate. The Hearing School in the Center for Childhood Deafness and Family Communication provides the professional development setting (lab school) for masters students. The Audiology program at Vanderbilt, which undergirds the program in deaf education, is ranked first in the nation.
We extend our congratulations to Lyndsie and Cheryl.
