Darin W White (Former Faculty Member)As a researcher, Dr. White has published in prestigious business journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Services Marketing, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services and International Journal of Nonprofit and Volunteer Sector Marketing.
According to Dr. William Nance, McAfee School of Business Administration Department Chair, “Over the years Dr. White has been a leader in scholarly and academic research within the McAfee SOBA.” Since assuming the role of Director of Research for the McAfee SOBA, scholarly productivity within the school has soared 350 percent. Over that time period, Dr. White co-authored and published ten different articles with five different faculty members in the fields of ethics, economics, MIS, management, and marketing. In addition, he launched multiple initiatives to create a culture within the McAfee SOBA that rewards and celebrates scholarly research by faculty.

Dr. White, who holds a bachelor's degree in business from Birmingham-Southern College, a master of arts in marketing from the University of Alabama, and a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Alabama. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, cases, major applied research reports, and conference papers over the last decade. In addition, he is a frequent presenter at national and international business research meetings.
Dr. White, Professor of Marketing, has served on the McAfee School of Business Administration Faculty at Union University for the past fourteen years. Prior to 1994, White served as a research and teaching assistant in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama. During his time at Alabama he received numerous commendations and honors including the Watson/Little Memorial Award. He was also named Civitan’s Outstanding Male Citizen for the Alabama chapter in 1985. Dr. White has received numerous research grants including the 2007 PEW Charitable Trust Foundation Summer Research Grant
Dr. White possesses a great deal of applied business research experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors. In addition to working for a major engineering firm in the early 90’s, he has conducted research for numerous nationally and regionally recognized organizations including Office Max (over $8 billion in sales in 2006), Cott Beverages (the world’s largest retailer brand soft drink provider), Rite Aid Pharmacy (over 70,000 employees), The United Way, The American Heart Association, Aronov Realty (the largest, privately owned, full-service real estate company in the Southeast), CBL & Associates Properties, Veggies-to-Go, Sports Plus Superstores, and Casey Jones Village.
